Fairmont’s week in review

Thomas Cain, Allen Oliver, Elvin Mathews and Elvin Mathews III were the winners of the Thursday Evening Scramble tournament. They won a three-way playoff over Tom Lee, Robert Lawson, Mark Smith, and Randy Graham, who came in second, and Jimmy Stone, Ronnie Cox, Richard Coleman, and Stevan Cox, who came in third. Ken Spangler, Aaron Ostrander, Carl Atkinson, and Jasper Jackson were the most creative team. Tom Lee and Jimmy Stone were the closest to the hole winners.

The next Thursday Evening Scramble will be played on Thursday, July 5 with a 6 p.m. shotgun start. Call the pro shop at 910-628-9931 by Wednesday afternoon to sign up. The Thursday Evening Scramble takes place on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Tommy Lowry and James Smith won this week’s Senior Shoot Out with a two-stroke victory over Rick Rogers and Tim Moore. James Howard Locklear and Craig Lowry won the second flight, winning in a playoff over Bob Slahetka and Bucky Beasley. Hoyt Pierce, Jim Rogers, Al Almond, and James Smith were the closest to the pin winners.

The next Senior Shoot Out will be played at Fairmont Golf Club on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Pinecrest senior shootout results

Willie Jacobs and Willie Oxendine won this week’s Pinecrest senior shootout by defeating Wayne Beasley and Bucky Beasley.

Third-place winners were Mike Sellers and Tommy Belch. Sellers and Al Wall were the closest to the flag winners.

The next Pinecrest senior shootout will be Tuesday at 8 a.m.
