Being in attendance at the Ray Pennington Athletic Complex isn’t the only way to catch all the action for the 2018 Dixie Youth World Series from July 27 to Aug. 9.
Every game of the World Series will also be streamed lived online at JockJive.com to allow those that can’t make the trip to Lumberton, a front row seat for all the action that the fans in attendance will see.
“This allows family and friends of those playing in the tournament to connect through JockJive and watch it live, just like they would on TV,” said Bruce Mullis, the treasurer of the Lumberton Youth Baseball Association. “And it gives those people the opportunity to cheer them on a real time basis.
“(JockJive) will call all the games and stream every game on every field.”
The live-streaming website, which also webcast the Dixie Youth World Series last year, will have the camera set up right behind home plate and announcers on the stream to provide play-by-play coverage of the tournament.
For the Coach and Machine Pitch tournaments that run July 27 to 31, coverage will be provided on all four field of play, while all six fields being used for the AAA, Majors and “O” Zone will have live stream capabilities on JockJive.com.
“We had internet run out to the backstops and the city came out and set up shelters and table areas for them to put their cameras and equipment for the broadcasts,” Mullis said.
While this won’t be the streaming service’s first time providing coverage to the Dixie Youth World Series, the quality of this year’s broadcast is expected to be a step up thanks to the accommodations right near the field.
“Several other tournaments have used it and they have the cameras set up on the scoring tower away from the fields and it makes it tough to sew all the action,” Mullis said.
JockJive broadcasts other sporting events and leagues in Georgia, Alabama and Florida as well. The Babe Ruth League World Series also is broadcasted through this company.
