LUMBERTON — The Dixie Youth Baseball World Series skills competition that was scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon at the Ray Pennington Athletic Complex has been cancelled because of inclement weather.
The opening ceremony for the World Series, which includes teams from Dixie Youth’s AAA, Majors and “O” Zone divisions, is still scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Lumberton High School football field on Friday night.
Dixie Youth Baseball and Lumberton Youth Baseball Association officials are currently evaluating field conditions to determine if schedule changes need to be made for the first round of the World Series on Saturday. The first games for Saturday have been moved up to 1 p.m.
