Pinecrest senior shootout results

Knocky Thorndyke and Atlas Warwick shot a 61 to claim this week’s Pinecrest senior shootout.

The pair defeated Hartley Oxendine and Greg Dial by three strokes.

The closest to the pin winners were J.D. Revels and Durant Cooper. Special prize winners were Cooper, Eric Chavis, James Humphrey and Lee Hunt.

The next Pinecrest senior shootout will be Thursday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Kinly Williamson shot his best career round with a 77.

Tommy Lowry and James Smith won this week’s senior shootout, with a six-stroke victory over Craig Lowry and James Howard Locklear.

Richard Lowry and Brad Hayes won the second flight, with David Locklear and Larry Townsend taking second. Gene Harrison and Jimmy Waddell won the third flight, with Gene Brumbles and Jerry Jolly coming in second. Tim Moore, James Howard Locklear, Knocky Thorndyke and James Smith were closest to the pin winners.

The next senior shootout will be Tuesday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The next Thursday Evening Scramble tournament will be Thursday, with a 6 p.m. shotgun start. This is a four-person captain’s choice format with an entry fee of $15 for members and $20 for non-members. A meal will be served after play. Royce McNeill memorial tournament on Friday

The seventh-annual Royce McNeill memorial golf tournament is set for Friday at Pinecrest Country Club. The proceeds from the tournament benefit scholarships at UNCP for the women’s basketball and women’s golf programs, while also going toward Purnell Swett athletics.

The cost for a four-person team is $240, with hole sponorships available for $100. Registration for the four-person, captain’s choice tournament is Noon, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Dates for other local gof tournaments include, the Robeson County Golf Championships at Pinecrest Country Club on July 19 to 21, and the Kiwanis All-American golf tournament at Pinecrest Country Club on Aug. 17 and 18.
