Humane Society tourney raises funds

The 18th-annual John Williamson Golf Tournament raised approximately $10,000 for the Robeson County Humane Society, according to spokesperson Samantha Bennett.

The team of Jamie Locklear, Jonathan Blue, Channing Jones and Kendall Hamilton won the tournament, edging out the team of Tommy Britt, Donnie Douglas, Donnie Beck and Brian Taylor in second place. Third place was claimed by the team of Joseph Martin, Jason Bethune, Kevin Walker and Johnny Carter.

The longest drive contest winner was Mac Konitzer and the winner of closest to hole was Mike Ratley.

Kiwanis All-American tourney approaching

The 43rd-annual Kiwanis All-American Golf Tournament will be contested at Pinecrest Country Club next Saturday and Sunday.

The format is two-man best ball, with no handicap. The tournament is open to all golfers 21 and over, unless accompanied by and adult, and will be limited to 70 teams. Cost per team is $200 due at registration.

Awards on Sunday will be presented at 5:30 p.m., and will include first three places in each flight winning prizes and trophies. The overall tournament champion receives the Kiwanis Blue Blazer.

Special prizes will also be available on the course. Local rules will apply and will be posted on site.

Pinecrest senior shootout results

Willie Oxendine and Tiger Willie won this week’s Pinecrest senior shootout by three strokes.

The runners-up were Tim Moore and Ricky Rogers in a scorecard playoff.

The closest to the flag winner was Tiger Willie.

Fairmont’s week in review

Kathy Jo Gaddy recorded her third career hole-in-one this past week on the 89-yard par 3 No. 13 using an 8 iron.

Tim Moore and Rick Rogers were the winners in this week’s senior shootout with a one-stroke victory over Greg Dial and Hartley Oxendine.

Mike Graham and Lee Hunt came in third place. David Evans was the closest to the pin winner.

The next senior shootout will be played Tuesday, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Pinecrest’s week in review

Mack Kenney shot a 3 over 75 at Reedy Creek Golf Course last week in a GolfWeek Amateur Tour event to win the first flight of the event.

Ronnie Hunt holed out from the fairway for an eagle on No. 9. It was his first eagle on a par 4. He used a 7 iron.
