FAYETTEVILLE — The Carolina Bears semi-pro football team, formerly known as the Robeson County Bears, opens its spring season Saturday.

The Bears will face the Fayetteville Commandos at 2:30 p.m.

The game will take place at the Reid Ross Classical School at 3200 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6-16.

The game is the Bears’ first in the Coastal Football Alliance after playing in the Central Carolina Football League last fall. The Bears will play an eight-game spring schedule from Saturday through May 8.

The Commandos recently played in the Sunshine Bowl’s Hall of Fame Bowl Championship, a national event for semi-pro teams held in Miami. They defeated the WPA Wildcatz 44-19 on Feb. 13.
