Pinecrest Country Club news
Winners of the John P. Williamson Memorial Tournament on May 17 included: Lonail Locklear, Mike Chuchacz and Larry Lynn Locklear won the Bridger Division with a score of 52; Bobby Campbell, Joe Marks and Anthony Thompson won the Beth Division with a score of 60. Travis Pait, Jackson Pait and Junior Nance won the Ben Division with a score of 61. Rick Williamson, Ben Williamson and Mac Konitzer won the Rick Division with a score of 65.
Winners of the Purnell Swett Booster Club tournament on May 18 included: Cal Hunt, Jerome Hunt and Greg Harris won the first flight with a score 61, winning in a scorecard playoff over runners-up Logan Locklear, Daniel Zeng and Lindsey Locklear. Jordan Sampson, David Leek and Gary Locklear won the second flight with a score of 67, winning in a scorecard playoff over runners-up George Ivey, Keith Sanderson and Ryan Hundley. Logan Howington, Ryan Hundley, Ben Collins and Dannie Locklear were the closest to the pin winners.
The Juneteenth Celebration Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled for a 1 p.m. shotgun start on Saturday. Cost is $70 per player, with mulligans and red tees available. Contact Tim Heath at 910-904-3005 or Glenn Patterson at 910-740-8784 for more information.
The John Wayne Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be played on June 8. It is a four-man captain’s choice format with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $60 per player, including golf, prizes and lunch. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place teams.
The next Pinecrest Senior Shootout will be played Thursday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The event includes a hot dog lunch and more. Call the pro shop for more info at 910-738-6541.
Things to do while playing golf that will ensure everyone has a good time: repair ball marks, repair divots, rake sand traps, let faster players thru, get a tee time and be on time.
Food for thought: Getting a tee time will ensure you a place on the course.
A choose-up is played each Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a 1 p.m. tee time.
Top reported scores this week include: Trey Martin with a 66, Ryan Hundley 75, Tommy Maynor 78, Adrian Lowry 78, Larry McNeill 79 and Pandora Carter 84.
Fairmont Golf Club news
A Texas Scramble Tournament will be played at Fairmont Golf Club on Saturday, June 22 with an 11 a.m shotgun start. This will be a four-person Texas Scramble format with an entry fee of $45 for members and $50 for non-members which includes all golf fees, meals before and after play, and prizes. Call the pro shop at 910-628-9931 to sign up.
Tommy Lowry and James Smith were the winners in this week’s Senior Shootout with a five-stroke victory over Rory McKeithan and Tommy Davis. Bucky Beasley and Alton Haggins were the winners of the second flight with James Howard Locklear and Jerry Long coming in second place. The third flight was won by Kyle Clark and Mike Lowry followed by Rick Baxley and Clifton Rich who took second. Tommy Lowry, Ancil Dial, Jerry Long and Clifton Rich were closest to the pin winners.
The next Senior Shootout will be played this Tuesday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
The next Thursday Evening Scramble will be played on Thursday, June 20 with a 6 p.m. shotgun start.
