RAEFORD — The St. Pauls volleyball team opened the season with a straight-sets loss at nonconference foe Hoke County Monday in Raeford.

Hoke County (1-0) won the first set 25-7, took the second set 25-6 and claimed the third 25-8 to seal the overall win.

St. Pauls (0-1) plays Thursday at South Brunswick.

Lumberton, Red Springs and Fairmont are scheduled to open their seasons Tuesday night. Lumberton plays at Red Springs, while Fairmont plays at South Brunswick.

Purnell Swett opens Wednesday at Union Pines.
