Bullard, Locklear named All-Conference
PEMBROKE — Postseason accolades began to trickle in for the UNC Pembroke Softball on Thursday when Alona Hanna was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and Summer Bullard and Chloe Locklear each earned all-conference honors, league officials announced.
The announcement marks the 12th straight season that the Braves have sent at least one representative to an All-Conference team. It is the second All-Conference nod for Locklear, and the first for Bullard.
A native of Lumberton, Hanna becomes just the second player in the history of the program to be named as Freshman of the Year. Hanna has started in 47 games this season and leads the team with a .375 batting average. She has 54 hits and ranks second on the team in RBI driving in 36 runs. Hanna has recorded nine doubles, five triples and five home runs so far this season.
A product of Purnell Swett High School, Bullard was tabbed as a first-team All-Conference honoree. Bullard has appeared in the circle for the Braves 21 times this season and has picked up 11 wins. The junior has a 3.49 ERA after pitching in 118.2 innings. Bullard tossed a no hitter against Barton on March 29.
A native of Pembroke, Locklear earned second-team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season. The redshirt sophomore was also named to the Conference Carolinas All-Defensive Team. Locklear has seen action in 41 games this season and posts a .347 batting average and leads the team with a .627 slugging percentage. She has tallied 41 hits, including 12 doubles and seven homers, while driving in 33 runs. In the field, Locklear has .995 fielding percentage and has thrown out seven runners.
