Crump named PBC Player Of The Week
AUGUSTA, Ga. — After registering another career day on the pitch that helped lead the UNC Pembroke women’s soccer team to a 3-1 victory at Clayton State on Saturday, junior Courtney Crump has earned Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week laurels, the league office announced Monday.
Crump, a Huntersville native, scored all three goals for the Braves as they snapped a three-game series losing streak to the Lakers, as well as picked up their first road win in the series since 2003. Crump registered just four shots in the outing, but scored in the 8th, 29th and 66th minutes to give the Black & Gold its fourth-straight win.
The performance marked the first hat trick for a UNCP player in nearly two seasons.
A two-year starter for the Braves, Crump has started in all 25 games for the Black & Gold since her arrival in Pembroke and has registered 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists. She also has three career game-winning goals to her credit as well.
Crump and the Braves will be back in action again on Saturday when they host Flagler in the front end of a 5 p.m. women’s and men’s soccer doubleheader at Varsity Grounds. Admission to all 2015 UNCP home soccer matches is free.
