FAIRMONT — Fairmont’s Zach Parker finished with a flurry at Fairmont Golf Club on Tuesday to earn his first Three Rivers Conference golf championship.

Parker carded a 1-under-par 71, rolling in birdies on two of his last three holes to earn a two-stroke victory over South Columbus’ Anthony Cartrette.

The senior leader of the Golden Tornadoes had plenty of motivation after coming up a stroke short in last season’s conference championship.

“It feels great to see my hard work pay off when it counts,” said Parker, who also earned player of the year honors.

“I just have to thank God for the talent he has given me and thank everyone who has supported me throughout my high school career.”

Parker, along with teammates Daniel Leonard, Chandler Campbell and Jacob Freeman qualified for Monday’s NCHSAA 2A regionals at Vineyard Golf in White Lake.

South Robeson’s Zach Brayboy, who posted an 84 on Tuesday, and Jacoby Swett also earned regional spots.
